Zuleikhas of the 21 Century
We make God happy when we lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us.
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Jesus is delighted when we conquer sin just as Joseph did when he was confronted by Potiphar’s wife. We are living in a corrupted world, full of Zuleikhas who are plotting evil against our lives and jealous of our success and achievements. Though the devil wanted to disgrace Joseph and snatch away his destiny. That was impossible because no one can curse what God has blessed. Numbers 20:23. Joseph observed Solomon's helpful advice that is found in Proverbs 5: 1-8.
Eventually, Joseph became the ruler of Egypt, regardless of all the trials and life circumstances that he faced. God was pleased with him and honoured him publicly. Temptation is part of the game since day one because, even Jesus the Son of David himself got tempted by the devil in the wilderness after fasting for 40 days and so many other characters in the bible, Matthew 4:1-11
"Do not be discouraged if you relapse after trying so hard to break free from the sin which so easily ensnares you. Your sins and failures do not define you..."
Failure is nothing but a chance to revise your strategy. It is an essential stepping stone for your journey. Remember God's grace and love is enough. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God proclaimed that "if they pray to me and repent and turn away from the evil they have been doing, then I will hear them in heaven, forgive their sins, and make their land prosperous again". Keep on working hard and know that God sees your intention, your heart and efforts, that is what matters. He will never leave you nor forsake you. God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8. You are not in this alone, God got you.
