Today marks the beginning of lent, a season of 40 days before Easter Matthew 4:1-2. All Christians and non christians are called to fast as God ordained in the Holy Scriptures. During this period, we are called to prepare for Easter through prayer, doing penance, mortifying the flesh, repentance of sins, almsgiving, and self-denial. In order to prepare for the celebration of the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The greatest part about this fasting, is repentance, asking for God’s forgiveness. Joel 2:12-18 Repent of your sins and turn away from your bad habits. Jesus is so merciful and wonderful that He will not close His ears to your prayers. Offer your life and all of you to Him and you will not be disappointed. This is a great period for you to create in yourself the desire to do God’s will and to make His kingdom come by making it come first in your heart. It  is a great opportunity for you to spend time in prayer seeking God’s will for you and your life.  ...

In the modern society, humility has lost its true authentic meaning. We live in a culture of "me" and I". We have become so selfish and lovers of the world and all it's treasures more than God and our neighbours. This culture has preached us that if you are not willing to do whatever it takes you are seen as not being ready for the world. Pride and arrogance has become the ruling order in the life of many individual's. The bible defines humility as a tool from God to free us from pride, arrogance and shame. Being humble does not mean to become a doormat or to think less of yourself or to sabotage your feelings and thoughts and prioritize those of others.   Once exposed to arrogance and pride, it is hard to acknowledge and to cherish humility unless God shows mercy and rescues you.
